What is religious knowledge and how is it produced?

This research seminar draws from findings and work-in-progress of the project „Pathways to professionalism of Muslim Women in Asia“. It scrutinizes the concepts of “knowledge” and “religion” in order to configure the compound word “religious knowledge”.  Apart from subject-related literature, three experts from three different Asian countries provide input for the seminar in a micro version of a summer school. 

Course participation requires basic knowledge in Islamic Studies, preferably also in Arabic and / or one of the languages of Southeast or Central Asia. Basic knowledge in theology and or comparative Religious Studies is highly welcome. The seminar links up with the seminar „Gender, Religion, Mobility and Profession“ from winter semester 2021/22 and the MA/PhD Kolloquium “Mobility, Religion, Knowledge, Profession, Gender”.
