What are the methodological implications of queer feminist theory in our research practice? What does it mean for research to be considered ‘queer’ or ‘feminist’? This course provides students with a practical exploration of turns, critiques, and approaches that queer and feminist literature has posed to social science research over the years. We will examine a range of subjects, such as anti- and inter-disciplinarity, queer of color critique, queer decoloniality, trans*feminism, Black queer studies, and intersectionality. After covering these essential topics, we will focus on the social and political conundrums surrounding ethnographic research and discuss the contemporary issues in the field.
