In this course, which is offered in conjunction with the lecture on American Literary History I: Beginnings to 1918, we will look more closely at selected texts from the respective period are discussed in greater depth.
Specifically, we will situate the works in their historical contexts and discuss salient themes as well as narrative technique. Credit is based on regular attendance, participation in class
discussions, an oral presentation or comparable task, as well as short pop quizzes.
