This block seminar (which starts on October 8, 2024) deals with eye-tracking as a method with a focus on language in connection with society. Students will be shown how to develop a research question on a topic in this area, how to design an eye-tracking experiment and how to prepare experimental materials and formulate testable hypotheses. As a further practical part, the course contains a hands-on introduction to eye-tracking in the laboratory. At the end of the course students should have a grasp of important issues in eye-tracking research, of experimental design applied to eye-tracking, and of the development of materials and hypotheses. The language of instruction is on demand English or German. Course materials are in English.
