In this course, we will examine and analyze conspiracy theories that have had a major impact upon politics and society in Europe, the United States, and the world from 1890 to the present. Among the questions that we will seek to answer: With whom did these conspiracy theories originate? Why did they arise, or gain popularity, at a given time and place? Who created them, who has sought to spread them, and why? What impact has belief in such conspiracy theories had upon individual countries and the world at large? How have they affected politics, society, ecology, and public health?
