General Information

This seminar is dedicated to the basic concepts of the regulatory framework of software licensing agreements in Europe. The main focus will be on copyright law but also elements contract law. Aspects of License Compliance , IoT (Internet of Things), FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) and Cloud Computing. Some aspects of data and software (artificial intelligence) will be also discussed.

With this course you will be able to understand the essentials of a software licensing agreements, the main regulatory sources in Europe and the basics elements of the current software licensing models.

Format

This course has been adapted to happen 100% online due to the current pandemic, so it will be mostly reading/writing-based with some interaction through online meetings. Since it is a seminar, you will be asked to choose a determined topic from a pre-selected list to present a term paper in the end of the semester. During the course you will also work on a scheme named “bloggers for one week”, a dynamic way to learn and discuss all the related topics chosen by your peers. Besides, every month we will have an online meeting to wrap-up the main take aways of the weekly discussions. It will be also a good chance to meet each other.
