Das Seminar geht der Frage nach, wie Eliten soziologisch bestimmt und in ihrer gesellschaftlichen Funktion verstanden werden können. Zu diesem Zweck werden die wichtigsten Elitentheorien gelesen und diskutiert.
The seminar studies inequality on a global level. It pursues the goal of systematically understanding social inequality with a global perspective. In class, the most important theories on the structure of the world system and global inequality will be discussed, while some empirical data will be added to complement the discussion.
