The course studies theoretical and empirical literature on inequality in the US. The focus will be on understanding social inequality and especially social classes. Particular attention should be paid to the intersection of race and class as well as to the historical emergence and reproduction of inequalities. Students will be able to choose their own topics, prepare a small study and present the results of their research in the final sessions.
