Course Description: The course gives an introduction into problems of cooperative organizations. Different theoretical perspectives are introduced: Collective Action, Organizational and Development Economics, Public Choice, Games and Behavior. The discussion about the development of co-operatives delivers the empirical background for understanding concepts and ideas. Co-operative law, strategies towards poverty alleviation and rural development, management and business practises as well as self-help initiatives are analyzed.
