Our upcoming study project will focus on the resource curse. The resource curse consists of a series of adverse effects that affect the entire economy, including individual markets and sectors, and that are strongly linked to the institutions in resource-rich countries.

There are two parts to this study project:

First, you will conduct an individual country (or region) case study on the resource curse. The case study aims at finding novel patterns, generating insights about the dynamics of the resource curse, and investigating policy options. We shall begin with a series of lecture-style classes and then proceed with regular meetings to discuss updates on your research. The best case studies will be chosen for publication in a book or a report.

The second part of the project will be about transferring your results to policy. After an introduction to the policy process and the role of different actors, your class will be fully responsible for organising a policy workshop. With our help, you will apply for grant funding, take care of logistics, choose your audience, and frame your research in order to convey it to decision-makers.
