This course will examine the theoretical, methodological and practical concerns of qualitative interviewing. The course will have a focus on design, ethics and the practice of interviewing. Students will become familiar with the particularities of doing fieldwork and interviewing in the context of urban life, migration and diversity. The course will cover the most frequently used interview types, such as individual and focus group interviews, narrative and expert interviews, vox-pop and biographical interviews.  In addition to the theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired from the course readings and lectures, students will also gain practical experience in conducting interviews. To this end, they will participate in the interview lab, "Memories of Conviviality," which is a practical student team project that involves all components and stages of qualitative interviewing and the reflection on the methods applied.
