English for Academic Purposes in the Digital Humanities: Reading and Writing (Focus: the German Fairy Tale)/ 91 058
This course helps advanced students ((in the Humanities and elsewhere)) improve on how to write clearly with well-articulated arguments and adequate academic vocabulary. Through reading and writing activities centered on the German fairy tale (translated into English), students also receive the opportunity to explore the field of literary analysis. As a novel approach, this course also attempts to enlist the aide of artificial intelligence (ChatGPT) as a means to model effective student academic writing.
Writing assignments focus on making and supporting claims, discussing various points of view, describing objects and situations, comparing and contrasting ideas, reviewing general conventions of academic writing on literature, and removing barriers to clarity.
In other words, this course attempts to address three separate areas of concern: about the nature and essence of academic writing, about improving our reading and writing skills in English, and about the nature and essence of the German fairy tale.
