In "Reading in the digital age and its implications for teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)“ we will explore how the rise of digital media has changed reading as core language skill. We will start with a reflection of our own reading habits and biography and will then explore various aspects of reading in connection with the digital age. Further, we will define open questions and talk about potential approaches to answer them with a focus on research methods.

The MAP (Modulabschlussprüfung) in this course will be a term paper of 7-8 pages which you will have to hand in in August 2023.

The course will mainly take place at the HU with the exception of one or two online sessions.

Reading material will be announced in the first session. For a first impression I recommend: Lobin, H. (2014). Engelbarts Traum: wie der Computer uns Lesen und Schreiben abnimmt. Campus. http://www.content-select.com/index.php?id=bib_view&ean=9783593424637
