"Being-in-the-field: research ontologies of knowledge sites” is a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary seminar drawing from anthropology, archaeology, museum studies and STS. We will conduct fieldwork in knowledge sites such as the university, the archive, and the museum, and test a variety of methods, with a focus on museum ethnography, multi-sited ethnography, and autoethnography. Our aim is to interrogate how scientific knowledge is produced and propagated. The participants will not only actively do research, but also reflect on the process of research itself, which they will document and record in fieldwork notebooks.
