Due to the increase in storage capacities and immense progress in data collection techniques, many modern data application are characterised by sets of mathematically  complex, typical non-scalar, variables. Addressing such complex data scenarios,  object-oriented and topological data analysis are two rapidly developing fields of statistics that are becoming increasingly important in various areas of academic and public research. This seminar is designed to give a rigorous introduction into both topics. In particular, different from classic data settings, we will cover cases, where the object of study (i.e. the variables) are compositions, functions, densities, graphs, shapes or images amongst others.

The course Multivariate Statistical Analysis, Econometric Methods or comparable knowledge is required as a prerequisite.
