Storytelling can be used to motivate students, create an environment for learning, establish a safe space and a sense of purpose. Currently, storytelling has been used in business, science, politics, media, technology, environmentalism ,marketing, social change and so on. It is a skill that is necessary in the modern world and can be adapted to a variety of situations, occupations, and majors. This course develops English language and oration skills for storytelling in order to advance participants’ listening and speaking skills by learning and utilizing oration elements such as: structure, vocabulary, connotation/denotation, presence, blocking, tone, pronunciation, colloquialisms and code-switching. Participants will develop a variety of public speaking techniques for memory, anxiety, and adaptability, as well as listen to and engage with a variety of storytellers in order to establish purposeful and motivating stories of their own on a variety of themes. 


The skills in the course are highly transferable.
