In this class we will read and discuss original papers detailing theoretical positions on the topic of grounding language processing. In that process, participants will learn how to approach scientific articles in English. Of particular interest are topics related to the relationship between language and (language users in) the world. We will discuss questions like “How do models ground language via dialogue and alignment?”, "How does attention contribute to link language and social knowledge to (language users in) the world?”,  "How do different models capture social aspects of language knowledge and processing'? and "How do models capture biases in language processing and use?" Course languages: German and English.
