This seminar will be held in English language. Main focus will be on the muscle coordination strategies used by the central nervous system to organise locomotor activity such as walking and running. In particular, we will consider real-world or ecological settings (i.e., out of the lab) and talk about how perturbations are constantly part of daily-life locomotion and why is somatosensory feedback crucial to robustly control movement. The use of artificial perturbations to simulate real-world settings will be explained in depth, with particular attention on how scientists can leverage perturbations to uncover fundamental mechanisms for the neural control of locomotion.
