The introductory session will take place on 28.04. 2PM-4PM (sharp) at Kunsthochschule Weissensee, Auditorium.
block seminar – in presence, English language, ÜWP option Studium Oecologicum
This seminar is held in collaboration with the cluster of excellence “Matters of Activity. Image Space Material” and Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin (Prof. Dr. Patricia Ribault). In preparation of the forthcoming exhibition Material Legacies at the Museum of Decorative Arts (Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin) we will examine selected artefacts from the museum’s collection and explore their historical, geological and economic entanglements.
In mixed groups (design and cultural studies) students will research artefacts, produce design interventions, and contextualise their findings through essays or audio-visual works. The aim of the seminar is to familiarise students with interdisciplinary research and to take a practice-based and critical historical approach to studying material cultures.
The seminar will be conducted in English language and will take place in different locations across HU Berlin, Kunstgewerbemuseum and Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
