In this seminar we will be engaging in a close reading and discussion of
a selection of key texts in which Plotinus addresses problems
surrounding his moral psychology. Some of the chief issues here concern
Plotinus’ commitments to Plato’s tripartition and his account of the
passions and emotions, as well as his virtue theory. No knowledge of
Greek is required. We will be reading all texts in English translation,
but occasionally the Greek text will be discussed.
The seminar starts on April 26th.
