The Town Hall of the American Studies division is a student-led group that began in June 2020 in light of the murder of George Floyd and the worldwide protests against police violence. Since then, students and faculty have been organizing virtual Town Hall meet ups in order to come together and talk about racism in the US and Germany, white supremacy in academia, as well as antiracist intersectional practices and actions at and beyond the department. As scholars of American Studies, we are deeply invested in such practices and seek to implement this within the university space.
