The course will offer an introduction to modern commutative algebra.  Topics to be covered include:

-Noetherian rings and modules

-Associated primes and primary decompositions

-Hilbert's Nullstellensatz

-Completions

-Gröbner Bases

-Introduction to homological algebras, free resolutions and Tor and Ext

-Dedekind rings
