This course aims at giving in-depth understanding in soil as
habitat, specifically in the complex organismic assemblages and their multiple interactions. You will gain insight into the
belowground biodiversity and the characteristics of dominant groups of
prokaryotes and animals. You will learn about the importance of the structure and function of microbial
and faunal communities for soil processes. Moreover, classic and modern methods
for the analyses and evaluation of soil ecosystems are introduced.
