Program:
After a general overview of the string theory topics necessary to understand this duality between string theories and gauge theories, we discuss the motivation behind it and describe the associated conjecture. We then give a number of evidence for it. A special emphasis is given to exact methods to verify it, but we touch upon generalizations and current trends in the topic.
Literature:
A very useful guide to the main concepts that we will touch is
M. Ammon, J. Erdmenger, "Gauge/Gravity Duality", Cambridge University Press (CUP)
For the overview of general string topics, classic references are:
M.B. Green, J.H. Schwarz, E. Witten, "Superstring Theory", CUP
J. Polchinski, "String Theory" vol. I and II, CUPAll lectures will be held in English and will be on Zoom (the link will be provided in due time), the notes and recorded lectures of each week will be available on the relevant Moodle section.
The current schedule is Tuesdays 13-15 and Thursdays 9-11.
Every second week the Thursday meeting will be devoted to exercises.
